Ingredients
  • Organic and ripe plums
Instructions
  1. Wash the fruit
  2. Carve an "X" in the bottom of each fruit (this will help with peeling later).
  3. Prepare a large bowl with ice water and set aside.
  4. Put about an inch or so of water in your large stock pot. Add a steamer basket to the pot, making sure that there is no water visible in the basket.
  5. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
  6. Once the water is rapidly boiling, fill the steamer basket with the plums and cover the pot.
  7. Steam the plums until they are soft and can easily be pierced with a fork (just a couple of minutes depending on how ripe the plums were).
  8. Remove the plums and submerge in ice water.
  9. Peel the plums, cut into chunks and discard the seed or pit in the center and transfer to the food processor.
  10. Process the plums until it creates a puree. (You shouldn't need any additional water because of the high water content of the plums.)
  11. Use a spoon to fill up the ice-cube trays with the plum puree.
  12. Place trays of baby food in the freezer and freeze until solid, usually over night or up to 24 hours.
  13. Once frozen, pop the cubes of plum baby food out of the trays and place into either vacuum sealer pouches or freezer storage bags.
  14. Either vacuum seal the pouches or try to squeeze out as much air as possible out the freezer storage bags.
  15. Place back in the freezer until needed.
  16. Thaw as needed. Each cube is 1 ounce of baby food.
