Whether you’re enjoying a backyard BBQ, beach trip or camping, Guacamole Taquero or Taco Shop Guacamole brings the heat to your summer eats with Mezzetta’s Deli-Sliced Hot Jalapenos!!
Sorry I have been MIA for the past 9 days…we had our BIG family annual lake vacation last week (so much fun and a much needed break) and then Chris and I went to North Carolina/South Carolina for our friends’ wedding. The actual wedding was in South Carolina but it was right across the border from North Carolina. The reception and where we stayed was actually in North Carolina. Sorry I know that is a little confusing…
Those were our big vacation plans for the summer and now it is time to stay home to save and plan for the wedding 🙂 It is actually only 5 months from today!! YIKES!! That just clicked…so now it is time to enjoy summer staycations. That means lots of grilling out, family BBQ’s and quick day trips to the local lake with the boat.
Today I am going to share with you the perfect way to spice up your family’s summer staycation, Mezzetta Peppers!! With multiple varieties and flavors both savory and spicy, they have the pepper for you! Garden fresh flavor with no green thumb required, they are perfect to pep up your favorite summer dishes.
My favorite variety is the Deli-Sliced Hot Jalapeños and I used them to create this recipe for Guacamole Taquero or Taco Shop Guacamole. It is an addictingly luscious dip that combines creamy avocado and salsa verde!! What!?! I am in heaven 🙂
The star of the show is, of course, the Mezzetta Deli-Sliced Hot Jalapeño Peppers!! You will also need tomatillos, avocados, onion, garlic and lime juice. If you can, try to find vidalia onion. They add a touch a sweetness to balance the heat from the jalapeños and the bitterness of the tomatillos.
Before we get to the recipe for Guacamole Taquero, I want to tell you about Mezzetta Summer Survival Kit Giveaway. You actually will have a chance to win three different times! Each month Mezzetta will be hosting one summer themed giveaway on their summer landing page. You will be able to enter once a day for a chance to win!

The folks at Mezzetta were kind enough to send me a sample of their Summer Survival Kit and it is super cool! You get a super-soft beach towel, apron, cutting or serving board, water bottle, napkins and fun beach ball that you can use all summer long!! I know I will be 🙂 Thanks Mezzetta!!
Okay…back to Guacamole Taquero…
The recipe for Guacamole Taquero couldn’t be easier 🙂 Start by adding your cilantro, tomatillos, garlic and onion to a food processor or high-speed blender. Process until all ingredients are finely chopped. Tomatillos can be a little stubborn, so keep at them until they are all chopped up!!
Add the avocados, Mezzetta Deli-Sliced Hot Jalapeños with their liquid and the lime juice and blend until smooth. Some of the recipes that I have seen call for adding water. But I say why dilute it with water use lime juice and the liquid from the jar of Mezzetta Deli-Sliced Hot Jalapeño peppers for more flavor 🙂
That’s all there is too it folks 🙂 Guacamole Taquero is perfect as a dip with your favorite multi-grain tortilla chips or as a topping or sauce for your favorite Mexican dish!! Bring the heat and add some Guacamole Taquero to your favorite tacos, burritos, enchilladas, quesadillas, etc. This stuff is so versatile and oh so delish!!
I made a large batch of this green goodness yesterday which we enjoyed as an appetizer before Sunday dinner!! It was quite the hit and we still have a bunch left that I plan on using with taco dinner this week (if I don’t polish it off with some chips as a snack first).
I seriously had to control myself from polishing it all off so that I could take pictures! I’m telling you it is that good 🙂 And one more time, if you would like to enter to win the Mezzetta Summer Survival Kit Giveaway just click here.

Thanks Michele!! Mezzetta does have a “tame” jalpeno that might work for you and your stomach…

That looks very interesting! I had guacamole once, but it was some powder in a package mixed with avocado. Kinda gross honestly. I’m sure the real thing tastes much better!
