Roasted Garlic Broccoli is an easy and healthy “go-to” side dish. So versatile, it pairs with just about anything, rounding out any meal in a flavorful way.
Roasted Garlic Broccoli is one of my most requested side dishes.
There is something about roasting vegetables that really brings out their flavors. I love the simplicity of this dish and the complexity of the the flavors, which is surprising given the minimal ingredients used.
And it is oh so easy too!! Β It’s just a matter of dumping the broccoli florets in a gallon-size zip-top bag. Add the extra virgin olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and crushed red pepper flakes (if you are using it) to the bag. Seal the bag and give it a good shake. Spread out on a foil-lined baking sheet and roast for 15-20 minutes. And then DONE! Perfect, roasted broccoli goodness π
I’ve been making this recipe for years and it is a family favorite. It is finally time that it made an appearance on the the blog. I am almost embarrassed to disclose just how easy it is…but its time π
Here is your recipe for Roasted Garlic Broccoli:
- 1 head broccoli, chopped into bite-size florets
- 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
- sea salt, fresh ground pepper and crushed red pepper to taste.
- Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with aluminium foil (for easy cleaning) and spray with non-stick cooking spray or spritz of olive oil.
- Add broccoli florets to a gallon-size zip-top bag. Add garlic, salt, pepper and red pepper flake (if using). Seal and shake to combine.
- Pour seasoned broccoli onto prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until broccoli is crisp-tender and just starting to brown.
- Serve hot/warm.

I probably need to knuckle down and use fresh broccoli. I’ve been trying to roast frozen broccoli and it just doesn’t come out very crisp. π It IS convenient though, since we always have the frozen around,
Becky says
Ya Jill…using fresh broccoli will help it come out crispier when roasting…it is worth the extra effort π
Joy @ Joy Love Food says
