10 Minute Instant Pot Chicken Breasts (From Frozen) is hands down the BEST and EASIEST way to cook frozen chicken breasts in a pressure cooker! Perfect for meal prep and having a ready-made protein solution on hand for salads, sandwiches, wraps, casseroles and other easy, better-for-you meal options.
Spring is in the air, well at least here in Southern Georgia, and I couldn’t be more happier to see the temperatures climb back into the lower 80’s! We probably will have another cold snap or two, but at least we are getting nice weather now 🙂 I’ll take it! Especially since Baby Girl’s 1st Birthday Party is this weekend 🙂 I can’t believe that she will be 1!! How did my baby get to be 1 already???? We are keeping it simple and celebrating with family and friends at my parent’s house, BBQing and enjoying THEIR NEW POOL!! (If you can’t tell I am super excited about it!!)
As the weather is warming and I see that gorgeous new pool next door, I start inevitably thinking about how I will have to be in a bathing suit in said pool! Classic girl thought, right? 😉 I usually strive to keep my diet pretty healthy, but now is the time to step that up a notch. I need to get bathing suit ready (note: I didn’t say “bikini ready” as those days are long gone after having a baby and a very ugly c-section scar).
But we are all busy and meal prepping to eat healthier takes some time, so I have had to come up with some shortcuts that I can take to make my life easier and eat well!
Baby Girl and I make one of our daily outings each week to Sam’s Club 🙂 We could do the super duper easy and convenient Club Pickup, but we need our trips to get out of the house during the day 😉 (All of you stay at home mamas know what I am talking about). We love cruising the aisles on the hunt for Instant Savings and finding products that would be good for our family! You can see some of our favorite staples in my cart and I always save when I grab them at Sam’s Club.
I like to keep my freezer stocked with convenient protein solutions and Tyson® has two products that I have been loving lately! Tyson Grilled and Ready® Chicken is perfect to have on-hand for quick and easy salads, sandwiches or wraps for lunch! And for dinners, Grilled and Ready® is the key to getting dinner on the table in a snap! Heat according to the package instructions and throw into skillet meals or other easy recipes for those crazy weeknights! I like having them on hand for Lil Man too, as he always seems to be hungry! I don’t know how an 8 year old boy can eat so much!! So when he is with us, I feel better knowing that I have something on-hand that I can whip up quickly. Now with baseball starting back up, he needs a good protein source to fuel him for his games and practices too.
Tyson® Frozen Chicken Breasts are another staple in our freezer. And my favorite thing to do with them is to make Instant Pot Chicken Breasts! It takes only 10 minutes, cook from frozen (no waiting for thawing – yay!!) and the pressure cooker does all the work! Then you have fully-cooked and ready chicken in your frig or freezer for whatever you might need! The possibilities are endless, from salads to wraps to sandwiches to quinoa bowls and quick-cooking skillet meals 🙂
Let’s walk through this simple process of creating these Instant Pot Chicken Breasts 🙂
Place your Tyson® Frozen Chicken Breasts, chicken broth and seasonings in the bowl of the pressure cooker.
Close and lock the lid of the pressure cooker and set the vent to sealed. Set your pressure cooker for 10 minutes on “Poultry” or “Manual” (depending on the settings your machine has – mine doesn’t have poultry so I used manual) and allow it do to its thang. When it is finished cooking, allow the pressure to release naturally for 5 minutes and then perform a quick release. Be careful as you remove chicken from the pressure cooker as it will be literally falling apart.
Now the first option is to slice up your Instant Pot Chicken (or really break into chunks – you won’t even need a knife. It will be that tender).
The other option would be to shred your Instant Pot Chicken. The easiest way I found to accomplish this was using an immersion blender 😉 I poured off the excess cooking liquid, leaving about 1/4 cup in the bottom of the pressure cooker bowl. Then I added the chicken back in and used the immersion blender to shred. It was so easy and took literally 2 minutes.
Here is your recipe for 10 Minute Instant Pot Chicken Breasts (From Frozen):
- 3 lbs. (1/2 bag) Tyson® Frozen Chicken Breasts
- 1 cup chicken stock or water
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced, pressed or finely grated
- Sea salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp. crushed red pepper (optional but we like it in our house)
- Place chicken, stock or water, garlic, salt, pepper and crushed red pepper, if using in the bowl of a pressure cooker.
- Close and lock the lid and turn the vent to sealed.
- Set for 10 minutes on poultry or manual setting and allow to cook.
- Allow pressure to release naturally and then perform a quick release, if needed.
- If slicing, remove chicken from the liquid and slice when it is cool enough to handle. (5-10 minutes)
- If shredding, pour off the excess cooking liquid, leaving about ¼ cup in the bottom of the pressure cooker bowl. Then add the chicken back in and shred using an immersion blender, handheld mixer or forks.
- Tastes great plain or it is super convenient to use in recipes.
- Keeps in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
- To freeze, let the either sliced or shredded chicken to cool completely. Place in freezer zip top bags or vacuum seal.
