Y’all during the holiday season I desperately need quick and easy dinners that I just don’t have to think about! With all the craziness of the season, the last thing that I want to worry about is what is for dinner!?! Am I right? Please don’t tell me that I am the only one who gets bogged down during the holidays and is very tempted to shout, “BAH HUMBUG!!” I mean seriously, we all need to take a step back and remember what Christmas is all about! Ok, there, I will get off my soap box and back to this quick and easy recipe.
15 minute Spaghetti Bolognese is one of my go-to recipes! Y’all know I am a sucker for pasta and when it is quick, easy and healthy…I am DEFINITELY IN!! The trick to making this Spaghetti Bolognese in only 15 minutes, is making sure you have some of my make-ahead Slow Cooker Tomato Sauce with Fresh Herbs in the freezer 🙂
My suggestion is to break out your trusty slow cooker and whip up a big ‘ol batch of my Slow Cooker Tomato Sauce with Fresh Herbs on a weekend or when you have some down time.
Here is the recipe for 15 minute Spaghetti Bolognese:
- 1 box (14.25 oz.) whole wheat angel hair pasta
- 1 cup reserved starchy cooking water (from pasta)
- 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 1 lb. 93% lean ground beef
- 4 cups Slow Cooker Tomato Sauce with Fresh Herbs
- 3 oz. tomato paste
- sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
- Garnish: crushed red pepper flakes and/or parmesan cheese (optional)
- Cook pasta to 'al dente' in a large stock pot, according to package instructions.
- Reserve 1 cup starchy cooking water, drain, and keep pasta warm.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Once oil is hot, brown ground beef.
- Add tomato sauce and paste, stir to combine and cook until sauce has thickened slightly, approximately 3-4 minutes.
- Add meat sauce and reserved starchy cooking water to the cooked pasta and stir to combine.
- Serve hot and garnish with crushed red pepper flakes and/or parmesan cheese, if desired.
