This pork chop dinner  has a special ingredient that really give it a punch of flavor…
Ok so obviously Parmesan Crusted Baked Pork Chops have parmesan as a main ingredient so that’s not the “secret ingredient.” And since is the parmesan “crusted” one would think that we need something to be the good glue that will stick said parmesan…egg. Ok no secret there but what you mix in with the egg is the secret ingredient. When I first checked out this recipe on Simple Savvy Recipes, I thought it was intriguing and instantly wanted to try it out.
Man, I am so happy that I gave this recipe a try with adaptations that make it Becky’s Best Bites approved!! Adding worcestershire sauce to the egg mixture (I went with egg whites instead of full eggs) for breading adds amazing flavor to these pork chops!! Using whole wheat bread crumbs bumps up the health factor as well. I used lean bone-in pork chops and in the past when I have baked them, they tend to turn out so a bit dry. Not the case with these! The parmesan crust keeps them very moist.
I actually realized after the fact, that I had forgotten the flour that the original recipe. Oops! But it turned out great and the flour wasn’t missed. I like to be honest with y’all. Sometimes I screw up in the kitchen…I know right? LOL 🙂 But sometimes a mistake turns out beautifully…
Here is the recipe:
- ½ cup egg whites
- ½ cup worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup whole wheat bread crumbs
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp. sea salt
- 1 tsp. fresh ground cracked pepper
- 1 tsp. chipotle chili powder
- 4 bone-in lean pork chops
- Pre-heat the oven to 425 degrees.
- In one shallow dish, combine the egg whites and worcestershire sauce.
- In another combine the bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and chili powder.
- Dip each pork chop in the egg mixture first and then in the bread crumb/cheese mixture. Press the mixture into the pork chops so they get fully coated. Place on a baking sheet or dish lined with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Bake the pork chops for 35-40 minutes or until the pork is fully cooked and no trace of pink remains inside.
- Serve with roasted broccoli and a side of pasta or rice.
