Yesterday I shared all the fooodddd that I put together for my sister’s super hero baby shower. If you missed it, you can find it here. Today I thought we could chat about the desserts and the decorations that we put together for the super hero baby shower. Again we kinda went overboard but it was a ton of fun and we just couldn’t help ourselves…did I mention how excited we are for Zackary’s arrival?
Aren’t these the cutest cupcakes? I cannot take any credit for them, however. I cook, I don’t bake…the problem is that I don’t really measure anything so that doesn’t work for baking. This is my other sister that is the baker, not the one we threw the super hero baby shower for (obviously…ha…lol). She made the cupcakes and the fun icing but I don’t have the recipe. If you want it, leave a comment and I will try to get it for you.
The cute cupcake toppers and liners were from a whole kit that I ordered for the shower. Of course, I found it on Pinterest and I actually ordered the mini version of this kit. The kit is from venspaperie‘s Etsy shop. They have tons of fun printable kits for different themed events. I just supplied Zackary’s name and gender and then I received the pdf’s of the files within 48 hours. I bought card stock from Sam’s and printed them myself. I bought an adjustable circle cutter, similar to this one. Then my mom, sister and I spend a Saturday afternoon cutting them all out. It was a lot of work but well worth it.
The water bottle labels also came in the super hero baby shower kit.
Here is an example of the signage that we made with the items in the kit. We held the super hero baby shower at my work. My day job is at the Turner Center for the Arts in beautiful downtown Valdosta, GA. We are the communities’ non-profit art center. We also have event venue space so I took advantage of my employee benefit to have one free event there each year.

Our centerpieces were made with chocolate covered strawberries. All you have to do is to cut several bamboo skewers to different lengths. Stick the bamboo skewers into the leafy end of the strawberry. Place in a mason jar. I found the idea for this on pinterest, of course, and here is the link for chocolate covered strawberry bouquets. We took the 4 inch circles that were included in the super hero baby shower kit, added some ribbon that we had for the event for the tags. My sister came up with the idea to put the super bubble inside the mason jars to stabilize the bouquets. GENIUS!! I think that these turned out wonderfully!
Here is out table tops! We used toppers that my sister made for my other sister’s wedding and then we used them again for her wedding. So if you are following me…we have now used these toppers for 3 big celebrations…talk about bang for your money!! Then we added the primary colored felt, the chocolate covered strawberry bouquets, the coloring bucket (for the project that I will tell you about in my next post so stay tuned) and then just some confetti that I purchased from a local party store.
We also had a candy table with little gift bags so everyone could take some home. I know…the health coach should be giving out candy but everything in moderation, right? Sour Punch Strawberry Straws were our catwomen lassos:-)
Ring pops became Green Lantern Power Rings and Super Bubble was just Super Bubble (ha, ha).
You can’t have a Super Hero Baby Shower without Kryptonite Punch!! It is actually a Halloween recipe but I didn’t make the floating ice brain (obviously)…We had an “adult” kryptonite punch that included a little Pinot Grigio (hello that calmed the nerves a bit) and then the normal kryptonite punch (kid and pregnant sister friendly).
And finally, our Super Hero Pops! These were the favors along with the other candy. I was sooooo proud of these little suckers (ha…pun intended)! I got alot of my decorating ideas from this post. The pops are on Claire’s Super Hero Baby Shower post but she refers you to this site for the templates. The only changes that we made were not to add the second circle with the message and to use the 2 inch circles that came in our Super Hero Baby Shower Kit that I purchased. We picked up a piece of green floral foam to put in the bottom of the dish and stuck the pops in the foam so that they would stand nicely.
We also took Claire’s idea for the onesie capes and masks. We used them to decorate the present table. I kinda forgot to take a picture of them before the shower started (I wasn’t trying to get any food out or anything). But you can see them in the background of this picture. These were all my other sister’s doing…there is no way that I have enough patience or the sewing ability to put those together.
One last funny story before I go…I actually found the diaper cake at a garage sale! I know right???? I was already put together and cheaper than buying the diapers. It was the wrong theme (jungle not super hero) but we just changed out the ribbon and found some cute super hero plushes to stick in the top. Easy and done!! How cute was that? I am totally patting myself on the back right now:-)
