Cream corn…it doesn’t have to have any cream and/or any butter. All you need is good ‘ol fresh corn on the cob! This came right out of our garden.

How to cream corn

corn on the cob

Grab yourself a whole bunch of corn (out of the garden or head to your local farmer’s market)…

farm fresh corn

Cut both ends of the corn cob to expose the kernels.

prepping the corn

Cream the corn using the Easy Creamer or by hand. The easy creamer is produced about 30 minutes south of here, it makes creaming corn super easy!! It shucks, silks and either creams or cuts the corn off the cob. They even have instructional videos up on their website. But here is how we did it. You will need a drill, table, bucket and trash bin. A word of warning…it is messy so don’t wear any clothes you don’t want to be covered in corn:)

  1. Mount E-Z Creamer to platform with two mounting screws that are included.
  2. Insert cob screw (also included) in drill motor and tighten with chuck.
  3. Screw cob screw in large end of corn.
  4. Insert corn into bottom tube below brush, using drill motor in a clock wise direction, move up and down until cob is free of shuck and silk.
  5. After corn is cleaned, insert corn in top tube, run in a clock wise direction until corn is creamed usually one or two times in out and out is sufficient.
  6. Put drill motor in reverse, unscrew from cob. Repeat process.

This is a hand-held corn cutter and creamer. This one was given to us by my Granny but you can purchase one here.

Blanch the creamed corn in the microwave by cooking it on high for 3-4 minutes.

Let cool. Portion into 2-3 cup servings, depending on your needs, and vacuum seal to preserve freshness.

There is nothing like coming home after a day out to the
smell of something cooking and knowing your dinner is almost ready.

This means that over 50% enjoy fussing at the
stove ‘ many of them enjoy the activity and others see it as a necessary task.

Cook the vegetables in the same manner; as vegetables near doneness,
return the meat to the wok, stir and serve immediately.

[…] So when the Hubs cooks, he sometimes pulls out random things out of the freezer and puts them together. One day he pulled some chicken and creamed corn out of the freezer. We typically cream corn in the summer and put it up to have fresh creamed corn all year long! Here is a post that I wrote a while back that explains how we do it –> How to Cream Corn […]
